Accountability Workshop
About The Program
Participants will develop a knowledge and understanding of:
- The reasons why accountability is so important for a team and for culture
- How individuals can determine and monitor their own levels of self-accountability
- Methods to improve levels of accountability for individuals
- Strategies to strike a balance between self-determination and accountability
- Ways to hold other members accountable, while upholding dignity
This workshop guides participants through a common understanding of the concept of accountability, as it relates to individuals monitoring themselves, and also as it relates to the ways individuals hold one another accountable. They delve into the concept of self-determination theory, developed by Deci and Ryan, before using an accountability self- assessment tool to reflect on their current awareness of personal accountability.
Patrick Lencioni’s 5 Behaviours of a Cohesive Team model is then presented as a way through which team members can understand the important role accountability plays in teams.. Brene Brown’s ‘Clear is Kind’ theory is then explored, with the view to challenging those who feel that accountability may compromise kindness in the workplace.
Participants will learn tools to assess their own levels of self- accountability, as well as develop a clarified appreciation of the value of accountability for their teams.. They will leave the workshop with awareness of the value of conversations around accountability, coupled with the ability for these to be carried out with the intent of increased trust and productivity.
Participants will also leave the workshop with an awareness of the current tools used by their teams to support accountability, combined with ideas for the development of future tools to enhance this collective goal.
