The Art of Storytelling
About The Program
Participants will develop a knowledge and understanding of:
- The enduring value of narratives as a tool for building connection, empathy and belonging.
- The effectiveness of storytelling as a tool for impactful leadership.
- The categories of narratives, and the stories from their own lives that can be impactful according to different contexts and purposes in the workplace.
Narratives and stories are intrinsic to our cultures and our identities. They enable us to connect, to empathise and to see the commonality in the human condition.
Participants of this workshop learn about how to use narratives as a communication tool with the goal of modelling vulnerability, inspiring others and humanising concepts that would otherwise be purely strategic and theoretical.
They learn how to use the art of storytelling as a means to establish greater depth of purpose and stronger engagement for their teams.
At the completion of this workshop, participants will have an appreciation for the different styles of narratives, based on the research of Annette Simmons, which is applicable to the workplace.
They will understand how to cultivate their unique and authentic storytelling persona, coupled with an initial curation of stories from their own experience that can be applied to their roles and organisations.
Participants will collaborate and practise the engaging delivery of their stories, sharing feedback with one another.
- Enhanced communication skills
- Awareness of narrative as a tool
- A curated selection of personal stories
